About Ariella

Ariella Brown is a choreographer, performer, and educator residing in Minneapolis, MN. Through interdisciplinary collaborations with other artists such as directors, scene designers, writers, musicians, and dancers, she has toured her creative work throughout North America including Pennsylvania, Virginia, Nebraska, Washington, Canada, Arizona, Kentucky, and California. She has taught dance courses at the University of Kentucky, the University of Arizona, Radford University Pima Community College, and Pacific Lutheran University, where she served as the Director of Dance from 2015-16. Ariella earned her Master of Fine Arts in dance with an emphasis in choreography and a Certificate in College Teaching from The University of Arizona. Her Bachelor of Arts in Dance was earned from Point Park University. Currently, she is on faculty at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire.
In addition to teaching and choreographing, Ariella has danced for the Portland Opera, Moving Collective in Louisville, and worked with Philadelphia based artist Rennie Harris. Prior to her graduate work, Ariella co-founded, directed, and danced in Seattle modern company Sapience Dance Collective (Seattle, WA), which stemmed her interest and commitment to site-specific work and its relation to community outreach. Ariella has also danced with Seattle artists such as Christy McNeil, Aiko Kinoshita, Sarah Kathryn Olds, Nancy Cranbourne, and with Walrus Contemporary Dance Company and Evoke Productions. During her time in Pittsburgh, Ariella worked with Xpressions Contemporary Dance Company, and performed choreography by Attack Theatre. 
Ariella has been awarded grants and scholarships in order to pursue her work, and was featured in Dance Spirit magazine and the Kentucky Kernel.
